About Siberian Cats
General Information
Siberian cats are friendly, affectionate, and hypoallergenic, making them suitable for people with allergies. They are medium to large in size, with a muscular build and a dense, water-resistant coat that comes in various colors and patterns. Their thick, triple-layered coat provides excellent insulation against the cold and changes with the seasons. Regular brushing prevents matting and removes loose hair. Males typically weigh between 12 to 20 pounds (5.5 to 9 kg), while females weigh between 10 to 14 pounds (4.5 to 6.5 kg). Siberian cats are known for their good health and can live up to 15 to 20 years if well cared for. They are intelligent, quick learners, and can be trained to perform tricks and follow commands. Their friendly and social nature makes them great with children and other pets. They enjoy climbing, exploring, and playing with toys, and are also known for their love of water. Siberian cats form strong bonds with their owners and are known for their gentle and affectionate nature. They are generally a robust and hardy breed with few genetic health issues. A slow-maturing breed, Siberians typically reach their full size and grandeur around five years.

History
The Siberian cat is the national cat of Russia and has been cherished for thousands of years, first mentioned in Russian literature around 1000 AD. Siberian cats have a rich history in Russia and have indeed been featured in folklore and fairy tales. They were known for their hunting skills and were often kept to control rodents. Their introduction to the international community gained momentum in the 1990s after the collapse of the Soviet Union, allowing the breed to be more widely exported and recognized. Siberian cats quickly gained popularity due to their hypoallergenic qualities and friendly nature. They are now recognized by major cat registries like TICA (The International Cat Association) and CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association) and are bred by reputable breeders worldwide. The victory of the Siberian cat named Roman at the World Cat Federation (WCF) show in Germany in 1990 is a significant milestone that brought international recognition to the breed.
